Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ: FAQ

Where are you located?

Knead Therapeutic is all about bringing the massage to you! We don't have a physical location so all massages are performed in the comfort and convenience of your own home. We bring our own table, linens, supplies, etc. so you never have to worry about anything or even step foot outside your door.

What will my first session be like?

Your first session will start with a brief health history to make sure you don't have any conditions that preclude you from receiving a massage. After that, your therapist will conduct a few range of motion tests and ask about any problem areas you may have so that we can tailor your session to give you the greatest benefit. You can play any music you like or we can provide you with our own spa music, either way we recommend a selection that will help you relax.

Do you treat patients with severe health problems?

Yes! Massage is a great way to relieve the side effects and stress that come with many health problems. Clients who suffer from fatigue, muscle pain, headaches, repetitive stress injuries, edema and poor circulation may benefit from massage.

Who can't receive massage?

Clients who have undergone surgery in the last 10 days, hypertension not controlled by medication, and clients with contagious diseases, infections or high fever are exempt from massage.

What do I wear during the massage?

You will be given complete privacy to undress to your comfort level, whether that means undressing completely or keeping some clothes on. We provide a blanket and sheet to protect your modesty for the entire session and your therapist will only undrape the current part of the body they are working on.

Besides time, is there any difference in a 60, 90 and 120 minute session?

The added session time allows your therapist to incorporate more joint mobilization, stretches and deep tissue work to focus on any problem areas you are having. 90 and 120 minute sessions are generally preferred if you have a chronic pain or tightness in an area, as it will take more time to alleviate muscle tension and achieve an increased range of motion

How will I feel after the massage?

Most clients will feel very relaxed while experiencing short-term freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After the initial period of relaxation, clients often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days.

How much should I tip my therapist?

Tipping, while not mandatory, is always appreciated by your therapist. The simplest way of thinking of tipping is the same way you would tip a waiter or waitress in a restaurant.

What does it mean that all your therapists are licensed by the state of Pennsylvania?

Each of our therapists has passed the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx) as well as completing hundreds of hours in the classroom and hands on experience. Every therapist has also undergone background checks, and is fully certified in CPR and basic life support techniques. We are also required to maintain our certifications through continuing education, ensuring you receive the most up to date treatment techniques.
